Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

The west wind we have had for the last couple of weeks finally changed to the east. Anytime we are in a westerly pattern it seems it just makes fishing in are area harder. We still caught fish, you just had to work for every bite.

It is still late summer but the days are getting shorter and the patterns for the fall are shaping up. It will not be long before the bait migrations start down the beach. With the bait comes the predators. Big schools of spanish mackerl will be the first on the scene followed close by there big cousins the kingfish. And with all the macks and bait around sharks will not be far behind. The last couple of falls have been just fantastic for this kind of fishing.

Inshore reds will be bunched up in tight schools for there spawning patterns. When you find one of these schools and get them going the action can be none stop.

Snook will start there migration back up the bays and rivers and anytime they travel they have to eat. This fishery will still be closed on the west coast but they sill are a blast to catch and release.
