Mangroves on Anna Maria

Capt. Tom Chaya
August 19, 2016
Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

Mangrove snapper has been excellent over "hardscape" throughout the bay and shallow gulf. Early morning hours combined with the strong tide provided the best action. Spanish Majority mackerel have been working the upper water column in the same areas. Some nice flounder are hitting around structure in 20-40 feet. A few nice schools of oversized redfish are showing up on the flats from Terra Ceia to Ringling bridge. of the fish are over 30 inches. School sized snook are active along the passes on the outgoing tide. Trout are hitting around bait schools throughout the bay in 4-6 foot depth. Look for the clearest water over turtle grass. A few pompano have been caught on jigs over shell bottom around emerson point.
