Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

Wind, wind and more wind! I think I have had maybe four days this month where it was not blowing more than fifteen knots or better. I can fish most days depending on which direction the wind is coming from. The only direction from my location on Anna Maria Island that truly messes things up is a do north wind.

Fishing between the fronts has really been good. Just about everything with fins is on the feed even with lower than usual temperatures. On the colder mornings I start the day going for sheepshead and redfish around structure.

As the day warms up you will find the Fishy Business on the deeper flats going for trout, pompano, bluefish and mackerel.

The warmer days we have done well on catch and release snook as well as redfish up on the oyster bars and shallow flats.

I have heard rumors of kingfish on the nearshore reefs but have not had a chance to get out there yet to confirm. Hopefully in the next couple of days the weather will give me a break to find out.
