Biscayne Bay/Miami

Capt. Mo Estevez
January 24, 2010
Biscayne Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

After several hard cold snaps in the beginning of January dropping the air temps to the 20's and 30's the fish have recovered nicely so far. The mackerels have been very active the last two weeks and the bonefish are back feeding and giving anglers opportunies at scoring a Biscayne Bay bonefish. Trouts have also been active and are also fun on ultra light tackle.

January 16th

What to do if you are in town from D.C., it's blowing 20-30 MPH and you really want to go fishing? You go fishing anyway. That's exactly what Duncan and Howie did catching a half day trip before an approaching cold front and were rewarded with good action on mackerels. Just a few days later the action continued but this time the mackerels fell to flies and as is the case, the drags were worked out. (pics to follow)

Expect to continue good action on mackerels and trout plus bonefish on the oceanside flats, snooks in the creeks and snappers and groupers in the finger channels.

Remember there is a grouper closure until April 30th and an extended snook closure due to the toll the unusually cold weather has taken on snook.
