Biscayne Bay/Miami

Capt. Mo Estevez

Biscayne Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Strong tides, perfect visibility and an early morning incoming tide are the ingredients for a great day of fishing my beloved Biscayne Bay flats. Our day today consisted of closing out the fishing show we have been working on with Scott on the bow and ESPN camera man Dan behind his camera. First flat of the morning we begin working a productive edge and see a bone move in. A good cast later the hook is set and the drag starts to scream, but only briefly. The hook pulls and we keep hunting. Working the same area the activity level plummets and we move off to a few other areas without success. At a higher stage of the tide we return to our early morning flat and quickly see a school of permits move in. Two quick accurate casts are rewarded by two quick takes and a double header on permit is on. I release mine and Scott is still on enjoying every moment. A few quick pics and some underwater footage later the permit is released to look for the rest of his now long gone school. We wrap up the day on a huge school of massively mudding bones working another edge but this time, incomprehensively, three perfect casts are refused. That's bonefishing!
