Boca Grande fishing charters Octoberber 2013 forecast

Capt. Danny Latham
October 17, 2013
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing this fall has absolutely been some of the best fishing I have seen in many years! The redfish are everywhere, snook are feeding like mad, tarpon are crashing ladyfish, snapper are hitting everything that touches the water, big trout are on every flat and this year's pompano run is huge! That all adds up to a lot of rod bending action and some pretty good eating too!

The redfish fishing (or maybe I should say catching) on Boca Grade Fishing Charters has been unreal! I have had 50-100 fish day after 50-100 fish day! It's literally catching not fishing! The reds continue to crush everything in sight. Live bait has been the most effective, especially when I can get a school to stop but the artificial bite on top waters is still awesome. Most of the fish are in the 5lb.-8lb. ranges but I have had a few fish pushing 20lbs recently! The redfish action on Boca Grande fishing charters should continue to produce these kinds of numbers all the way thru October and into November.

Boca Grande fishing charters for snook continue to be very good. I am still having 20 – 30 fish trips and most of the fish are still averaging 22″ -26″ although I have had multiple fish over 30" recently. Snook are still gathered in and around the passes but have begun to migrate back on to the flats as they begin to fatten up for winter. Scaled sardines, pinfish and grunts will, with out a doubt, be the baits of choice for snook in October.

If you want to go Boca Grande Tarpon fishing October is going to be your last chance until 2014. There are still thousands of tarpon here in the Boca Grande area and they are straight up chowing down! They have been keying in on ladyfish schools and if you have never seen it just imagine a school of bass or stripers coming up to feed and having a bunch oh 100lb tarpon literally come crashing thru them. If you want to catch one now is the time, as the cold weather that is bound to enter Southwest Florida will undoubtedly push the tarpon to warmer waters.

Snapper and pompano have also been making a good showing on recent Boca Grande fishing charters as well as big trout. I have been catching nice limits of all three and these fish are fantastic table fare! My clients have been more than happy to invite them home for dinner.
