Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report
The weather this past week has been a little chilly but it's supposed to be gorgeous for at least the next 10 days. With the water temperature steadily increasing the fishing should continue to improve and I'm expecting to start seeing whitebait any time now. I've been staying very, very busy this February and March is even busier. I seem to be getting more and more calls for future dates and I appreciate all of your business.
Getting a nice limit of trout to take home dinner has been relatively easy. The Trout fishing has been phenomenal with a lot of 50 plus fish day. Most of the trout are between 14" to 18" but I've been catching quit a few "Gator" trout over 24".
The redfish fishing this February has been really good with quite a few 30 plus fish days with a lot of nice keeper reds and a ton rats ( reds under the 18" min), which is good thing since those are the fish we will be catching in the future. The reds are really starting to bunch up and I'm seeing more and more big fish every week.
The mixed bag has been consisted of mostly sheepshead the past few weeks with a few flounder. I am starting to see a few pompano and I expect them to make a good showing with the warmer weather that is in our forecast.
For those of you wanting to book tarpon trips for May and June I strongly urge you to call and check for available dates. My calendar is filling up very quickly this year.
