Let's Go Fishin'

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for mid January.

Sorry to be gone so long but trips dropped off after New Years and I've stayed busy catching up at home. Then my internet service took a vacation but I am back on line and missed you all.

I have found a few pompano on a recent trip with family. Plenty of ladyfish and a few nice trout, trout are back in season and prospects look great for the next few months. Sheepshead should pick up with forecasted cold weather. I did get some positive reports of a few cobia and tripletails before this blow and cold usually helps in these fisheries also. The cobia come up to sun on cold sunny days.

Redfish and larger trout are available on the flats if you like to cast artificials. Sight fishing can be fun if your patient and can place your baits close enough but not too close to the spooky fish. We usually get several shots but accuracy can really help. We do some natural bait here too and it's easier if you prefer. Thanks for your patience and Let's Go Fishin' soon! Captain Van Hubbard
