Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Capt. Andy Boyette
May 8, 2006
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon Tarpon Tarpon!!!!

Tarpon Fishing is in full swing. The Harbor is stacked with good numbers of fish easily caught with threadfin hearing under a float. Drift through the area then move slowly back up wind or current. Make wide swings when moving the boat as not to spook the school. Pine Island Sound is just as good same method. Later in the afternoon shift to the beach and cast crabs free lined. Remember to be polite and not to crowd other anglers it will take you along way.

Boca Grande Pass has stated its normal run with good eating fish early in the morning then as the tide moves out the tarpon flush to the outside and can be caught out the buoys. Law enforcement will again be present and the three-line rule is in affect until the end of June.

Redfish are scattered but still being caught in good numbers, snook are moving on to the beaches to spawn so catch and release only. Big trout are cooperating and the permit are on the near by reefs.

I still have some afternoons open late May and guite a few days left in June so start making plans and get in on the action.
