Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Capt. Andy Boyette
October 13, 2006
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall Approach

Fall patterns are falling into place as fish get set for the approaching winter. Redfish schools can be found through out the harbor. Snook are all but done spawning and are starting to migrate back to the creeks, rivers and backcountry. Kingfish are heading south for the winter. Trout fishing should pickup and start filling up pot holes on deeper grass flats.

With all this action fall can be the best time of the year with a wide variety of options. There is still a good amount of bait available in the area and for those who like artificals topwater is a good choice for the AM then switch to jigs with soft plastics later in the day.

Grouper and snapper should start moving closer to shore as the water temps begin to cool. Look for larger fish to show on the ledges and near shore reefs in the 50-60 ft mark. Anchoring and chumming the area should get the mix started and a flat line of the back will more than likely pickup a curious kingfish.
