Snook on Fire

Capt. Darel Carter
November 4, 2017
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

10-15-17
Today I had a customer that wanted a full day's trip to target Snook and redfish. I met Allen at the boat ramp as the sun was coming up. It was a very short trip to the flats that I was going to catch bait. Greenbacks came easy as I made about 5 cast with my 8" cast net. These were very good greenies. We were done in under 20 minutes, and were off to the first spot.

The first spot was a new area. It had a sandy bottom nest to an island that dropped down to a grass flat. This spot was loaded with Snook. Most were over the sand and several were out over the grass. We caught 36 Snook and 4 Redfish before 1030. The Redfish were all over the grass and small fish.

Allen caught his first Redfish here also. We moved to a dock to target larger Snook, but the current was ripping. Allen caught his first Gag grouper there. The open water was full of ladyfish and small Spanish mackerel. What a great day of fishing this was.
