Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

This year's tarpon tournament fishing season was better than ever with the formation of Team TarponCharters.com. An unusual cast of characters consisting of Capt Andy along with 2 Doctors and the owner of a landscape maintenance company.

New this year was Dr Grant McDougall who owns is own pratice in Gainesville as a Physiologist, and Ralph Enzor owner of MRT Of Southwest Florida, a prominent lawn and landscape maintenance company operating out of Port Charlotte. Rounding out the team is 3-season team veteran Dr. Dan Moenning, owner and Doctor At Harborside Dental Associates of Punta Gorda.
This new team hit the PTTS with a storm weighing tarpon in 3 of the 6 tournaments for a total weight of 453 pounds. Topping out that weight was a monster 187 pound tarpon caught with just 5 minutes left in the 5th and final tournament of the series. Team TarponCharters.com also leadered numerous fish for points in every tournament for the Yamaha Team Of The Year Points Race , and finished 4th overall. With less than the points for one leader release separating the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers; the two tournaments where TarponCharters.com was bumped out of the points award and only achieved 6th place finishes, kept them out of 2nd place and possibly 1st in overall points.

Boca Grande Fishing Forecast:

The weather has hopefully turned around and I will be returning to the water this upcoming week. Keep an eye on my report to see what is going on in the backcountry flats and bays of Boca Grande. Snook season is reopened and redfish should be ready for the fall spawn. King Fish should start migrating south and I expect some red-hot fishing.
