Boynton Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was a busy one for me with offshore charters Thursday through Sunday. Thursday was flat calm on the ocean and we were able to land 3 nice tunas and a big kingfish while drifting about 2 miles offshore Boynton Inlet. Live bait was the lucky ticket, with goggle eyes and pilchards getting the most bites.
On Friday we set up the same drift in the same location and we were able to land 4 nice tunas and 1 sailfish before the bite slowed down around lunch time. Once again, goggle eyes and pilchards were the baits of choice during our drifts.
On Saturday I was chartered out for the 2016 Lantana Fishing Derby and we wound up winning the wahoo division with a 27 pounder that we caught while trolling ballyhoo 1 mile from Boynton Inlet! We also caught 1 tuna, 2 kingfish, and 1 sailfish during the tournament.
On Sunday I had two offshore charters. During the morning trip we caught 1 Blackfin tuna around 25 lbs, 12 triggerfish, and one hound fish. All were caught using live bait and cut bait. During the afternoon trip we caught a couple tunas, a bonito, and a nice kingfish while trolling with plugs and drifting with sardines.
Boynton Beach Fishing Forecast:

The red hot tuna bite should continue this week, with kingfish, wahoo, and sailfish action remaining strong as well. The inshore fishing should also improve for snook as they gather in the inlets to spawn.
Target Species:

Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Snook, Sailfish
