Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report

Day off so we headed 9 miles out today we trolled deep for King Mackerel till we intercepted the Shrimp boat Fleet from Alabama. The Shootist and the Maranatha. Awesome, they pull all night and sleep all day after the nets are cleared and the by catch thrown over. Another local fishing boat beat us to the Maranatha, a 70' Shrimper but soon left. Bill and I made our way to the back of the boat where we traded 4 ice cold beers for some fresh Squid and the hunt was on. We baited up and Bill hooked up big time on a monster shark behind the Shrimper but broke off after a 10 minute fight. Once again he got slammed but it too broke the line.
I could see the rudder and props under the shrimper. Again, they cleared the deck again with a huge chum cloud. I looked down from the bow of my boat to see a Twisting 10' Bull shark smashing the By-catch as it was thrown over in front of us. With incredible clarity it was like it was all playing out in slow motion 15' down in front of me.
This was an absolute fairytale day proving that you don't have to always catch a ton to have an incredible experience.
