Cold and Winds

Capt. Bert Barkus
March 2, 2009
Chokoloskee - Saltwater Fishing Report

The cold water has somewhat put the bite off as far as the snook fishing goes until later in the day as the water slightly worms up.
The reds have been quiet the opposit, drop in a jig about 2 feet in front and Wham, you have him on.
The Tarpon are still here in the rivers on the minus morning,or evening out going tides.
The larger Tarpon are laid up and stealth is your only help here.
That doesn't even meen your going to jump many, maybe 1 or 2 if lucky, even on fly.
If your out front fishing in a larger boat their are loads on mackeral and blues on the chopper days and when it's calm and slick you just might luck into a few cobia and crusing big permit.
Good Luck&Tight Lines,
Capt.Bert Barkus
