Snook Fired up!

Capt. Brandon Fraley
June 1, 2008
Clearwater - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week we had several inshore trips mainly targeting Snook. Most of the anglers were kids or novices to the Snook game, but that didn't stop us from catching and releasing 10-15 fish on every 4 hour trip. The key, it seemed was loading up on whitebait early every morning, locating the fish and getting them fired up by live chumming (no big secret). Once we had the fish busting baits on the surface, it was just a matter of the anglers flipping baits out in that area. Most of the fish were between 10-15 lbs. with the biggest(19lbs) being caught by a 10 year old and a first time Snooker. As the day wears on and temps rise these same fish slow down, you'll know when this happens because the Trout, small Mangrove Snapper, and other fish move in to feed. Snook fishing should continue to be good for June, as Summer creeps in, raising the water temp, it will become more important to get out early or late in the day. Remember to take extra care while handling and releasing these fish. Fore more info or questions go to www.fisheyefishing.com- Thanks for reading-
