During my recent trips out the water is finally clearing up especially the north end of mosquito lagoon, We ran down to pardon island and cucumber island as well as pole and troll area ,really sad all grass is gone ,water is clear not leaving areas for bait to hide and making fish very spooky ,We tried top water first light with no results only a few trout for alot of are poled ,switched to soft plastic only a few rat reds ,frustrated I ran my clients up north old east channel throwing jigs on drop offs we found a few decent reds and still smaller trout . A second trip out this past week I decided on working edgewater area with much better success ,the drop-off areas in creeks were pulling snook out in every area and some trout as well still not catching alot of redfish,no no.s yet but this month and next should be our best months in the lagoon and other areas in daytona beach like spruce creek and tomoka river, Last week I did a trip in spruce creek were we found a nice school of black drum in the 10 to 15 pound range along with some nice pompano and a few redfish ,I used a small jig head tipped with peeled shrimp seemed o work best .
