Destin Bay Fishing

Capt. Blake Nelson
March 17, 2011
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing this Spring is starting off great! We've been catching upperslot and overslot reds in deep water as well as out on the flats. The trout bite is starting to pick up as well and should be in full swing in just a couple more weeks. The bait of choice lately has been live shrimp but we've been able to get quite a few good reds on gulp! soft plastics and gold spoons. As soon as it gets into the 70s consistently, topwater lures will start to produce some great strikes out on the flats...always a favorite for clients who prefer artificial lures over live bait. Cobia have started their run and we should see some good numbers moving through in just a week or two...can't wait to get out and do some ling hunting! Hope everyone's Spring is starting off just as great, see you on the water!
