Destin Specks and Reds

Capt. Blake Nelson
June 15, 2009
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been getting just as hot as the temperatures here in Destin. We have been able to get some nice reds and specks on each trip this month. The specks do not seem to be as plentiful as they were this time last year but we are netting many more of the gators this year in the 4-5 lb range. And the reds have been hanging out in my typical trout holes on grass beds in less than two feet of water as well as around some local docks.

7 pounder put in the boat by an 8 year old.

The fishing is only getting better in the bays, and I am getting great reports about bull reds being caught along the beaches as well as some tarpon being spotted along the second sandbar.
