Easy Fishing

Capt. Larry Pentel
February 15, 2013
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

I got to run offshore today and it was just like the title, easy Fishing. One of those calm, clear, comfortable "I can't believe it's February" days !

The fish cooperated nicely. We caught a bunch of wigglers, ran to a Jack spot and caught big AJ's 'till my folks were tired, keeping our 4 fish limit. I even got to catch a Jack on a jig after a couple of my anglers were wore down.

He can never get enough! I think he landed 6 big Jacks, releasing 5

We then went looking for Triggers and caught a pile- Even getting to keep a dozen that made the grade. Not that common any more with a 14" fork length ! Hunted for some vermillion's and caught about a dozen of those as well but never could really get them to fire up-- a couple big shows on the bottom machine but just a slow pick with the actual bite....

Proof in the pictures....

It doesn't matter how much time you spend out in the Gulf there is always something different to keep you interested, We ran upon this big fellow just cruising along the surface about 10 miles offshore.

While there is nothing to relate size to in the pic I estimated him at 500#..plus

A headfish ( mola- mola ) is always a treat to find and this one was about as big a one as I have seen.

Less than 2 weeks till the "season" starts. I have to get a little more play time for Capt. Larry next week......

Get out there and play a little yourself before it gets crowded again

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
