Snappers, Snappers and More Snappers !

Capt. Larry Pentel
June 16, 2011
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

Like the title says, the Red Snappers have been everywhere. Up untill this morning the weather has been very cooperative and I have been running 2 trips a day. While everybody knew that the Snapper population had come back to the point of there being almost too many it is still amazing how many BIG fish there are around. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining by any means !

We have still been catching (and releasing ) lots of gag (Black) Groupers. Yesterday afternoon we let 4 go on a 2 hour afternoon trip that were over the 22" mark. If we don't get a big storm this summer to move all these fish around I imagine that come mid Sept when they open back up we will be having some easy fishing yet again.

Rather than ramble on I'll post a few picks from the past week. While I only have a couple slots open for Snappers before they close July 18th I have about a week of Tarpon trips still open the end of July/first part of August if anybody wants to try to put a big silver fish in the air----

More Fishing Reports:

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
