Surf's Up !

Capt. Larry Pentel

Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

I wish I had a bunch of fish pics to post on this report. The bite has been great when it's been calm enough to get off the beach but there haven't been to many of those days lately. The good news is the Kings have been red hot when we have had the calm weather. The last huge surf also seemed to have either moved in or turned on the gag (Black ) Grouper to about as hot a bite as they get. As a licensed charter boat we are not allowed to keep 'em but it just shows once again how the Feds fish stock numbers never seems to take reality into account (They claim they are 'bout gone). Oh well, job security I guess, when we have different management at NOAA there will be tons to catch !

Here's a couple pics from the past week

These boys had a great time, a couple of 'em caught he biggest fish they had ever seen.

These gentlemen got wore down from catching fish, the 3rd fellow was having to sit down when we took the picture.

There are still some cobia around but "scattered" would be the best description for 'em. We got to look for a couple hours yesterday before we got blown off the water and found a fine one in the 70# range , We had to settle for the kings we caught as that fish cooperated about the same as the conditions !

Next week it'll be calm and all those fish will still be out there !

More Fishing Reports:

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
