Estero Bay and Nearshore report

Capt. Jon Fetter
March 17, 2022
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The water temps have started to increase and with that the bite both backbay and nearshore has increased as well. The higher tides have produced some good redfish action along the mangrove shorelines. Cut bait seems to work best on circle hooks. Some quality snook bycatch has also been decent while using this technique. Seatrout have been feeding on the grass flats in 305 feet of water. Shrimp under popping corks has been the go-to method.

The nearshore bite has started to get much better with Spanish mackerel starting to show in 18-25 feet of water. They have been hanging around the bait pods and will take shrimp tipped jig heads or silver spoons. There are plenty of ladyfish in the mix also for some quality rod bending action.
