Estero Bay: Redfish - Sheepshead - Snook

Capt. Joe Angius
January 27, 2015
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week I had a client who is a avid fly fisherman from the North and wanted to hunt for some saltwater fish. The wind and weather was not on our side, but the tides were. Several opportunities to present a fly to a redfish were there but no connections were made.

Redfish are on the flats and in the creeks eating crabs and shrimp. As the water rises, they move toward oyster bars. Patience is key.

Sheepshead are around mangrove islands and oyster bars. Shrimp or crab on a size 1 hook will catch them.

Snook are very active and still wanting good sized white bait.

Always have fun fishing and being on the water, while appreciating the fish being caught.
