Estero Bay report

Capt. Jon Fetter
October 9, 2014
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

If variety is the spice of life then fishing in Estero Bay right now is cinnamon. The redfish bite is off the hook right now on the grass flats and around the mangrove islands depending on the tide. Lower tides they have been schooling up on the grass while at higher water they are spreading out and moving to the nearby mangroves and oyster bars. Shrimp tipped jig heads will work as will pinfish under floats, free lined white bait, or cut pins on 2/0 circle hooks. The grass flats are also providing anglers with seatrout, ladyfish, small sharks, jacks, and even pompano. Shrimp under a popping cork is the best set-up. There is still a decent snook bite around the floating docks and mangrove islands near the passes on strong incoming tide. Free lined whitebait on 3/0 circle hooks will work fine. The passes are a good place for snapper, ladyfish, jacks, and small sharks. Bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads will work best.
