Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
July 14, 2016
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The bite in the Backbay has been tough for anlgers the past week. There are plenty of snapper aroung the mangroves and oyster bars and those that stick with it can put some really nice fillets on the table. Shrimp tipped jig heads work best and down-sizing your hooks isn't a bad idea either. Redfish are out there, but getting a slot fish has been really difficult. Cut bait or pinfish on 2/0 circle hooks is the ticket. There are a few trout on the grass flats and shrimp under popping corks is the best method. The nearshore reefs have been decent for snapper, spanish makcerel, and ladyfish. Free-lining shrimp for the mac's and bottom bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads works for the ladys and snapper.
