Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finally a break in the rain and winds had anglers on the bite this weekend thru Wednesday. After the winds died down and the water began to loose the sediment it carried through most of the previous week, fishing got better. Sheepshead continue to be caught regularly, using jigs tipped with shrimp. Trout fishing continues to get better with fish up to 25" becoming more and more common. Most trout can be found shallower than normal, most likely warming up on the dark bottom as the water temps are still below 70 degrees. Redfishing although not great, has been good more so in Pineisland than Estero Bay. Estero bay redfishing is still hit or miss with quality and numbers one day and tough fishing the next. There hasn't been any real pattern that I've gotten into, but hoping that will change soon. The offshore and nearshore stuff hasn't been on my to do list this week, but I'd imagine the sheepshead are in full swing as well as mangrove snappers and of course groupers. Tight lines
