It was a good July

Capt. Greg Stamper
July 30, 2017
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

As July comes to an end and August begins we look forward to or typical Summer pattern returning. Although it rained a bunch in both the mornings and afternoons throughout July the fishing was good. Redfish, Snook, tarpon, and trout were all targeted and caught regularly all month. With plenty of bait cruising the beaches there were plenty of options of where to target your favorite species. Snook could regularly been seen cruising the beaches and local passes, as the wind was usually low making them easy to spot. Redfish were productive along the mangrove edges early in the mornings and after the afternoon rains went through in the cooler water. Trout continue to be found off bars and on the grassy flats in all sizes. Probably the funnest fish we've been playing with are the juvenile tarpon that continue to be active through the region. Tarpon are taking lures of many varieties and live baits well.
