One great week one a bit tough

Capt. Greg Stamper
January 15, 2017
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well we've had one awesome week and one not so much. Before the cold front made its' way through Southwest Florida last Saturday it was incredible. Nearshore we had a ton of kingfish, bonita, permit, and even some big schools of redfish. Everything seemed to know it was the last big feast as the bait was still thick and moving South. Likewise the back country bite was really good for snook, trout, and pompano with a few redfish sprinkled in the mix. Then just like a switch was flicked it became tough. We still caught a few, however we did have to work for them. The best bet was triple tailing until we had to many nice days in a row, putting a lot of pressure on them. Pompano was good for about 3 of the days after the front but seemed to tapper off as we got into the new moon. Tight lines it should be great this next week.
