Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today I am with Bruce and Albert and we are fishing Whitewater Bay for Tarpon. A cold front has backed up and is sitting right over us, the clouds are low and there is little wind. These are great conditions for spotting the rolling and free jumping Tarpon. The Tarpon put on an aerial show which we could see from a distance while casting at a favorite shore line for Snook. Bruce and Albert caught Trout, Bluefish, Mackerel, Ladyfish and Jacks but no Snook. The Tarpon continued to show themselves so we headed there way. We cast and cast that's just the way it is in this area and eventually we hooked 3 monster females all clearly over the 150 lb mark. All 3 we short fights before jumping off, the tide went completely slack and the fish turned off.
I asked if anyone is up for Grouper
off we went looking for some tide movement in the Shark River. It didn't take long Bruce hooked a nice grouper right at 22 inches then Albert caught one it was back and forth for and hour. We clearly caught most of the fish on this spot so we moved on. The next spot was similar another 6 or 8 Groupers caught on Gulp 4 inch curly tail grubs these are about 7 inches overall and the Chartreuse color killed them. We used this technique in the Gulf of Mexico for years and the bigger baits seem to catch the bigger fish. Albert cast in to a pocket and as he was working it back on the surface a very big Gag grouper ate it on the surface it was an awesome sight. The fish eventually got him wrapped up in a tree and cut him off. The tide went slack and the bite slowed so we headed back towards the dock, the clouds we really low and the temps had dropped a bit and it got cold on the ride home
