Afternoon bite

Capt. Jim Hobales

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

010311

Tonight I am fishing off of Miami Beach with Tom Zaffarano and we are looking for Tarpon. We got out early and found some pilchards just in case. We made a couple drifts and saw plenty of rolling Tarpon but they weren't eating yet. I had Tom casting several different lures while we drifted with live shrimp off the back, hoping for something to bite. It was quite then Tom started yelling as he was hooked up to a 40 pound Tarpon. The fish ate a swim bait and jumped once then thru the hook. It got slow and then Tom asked if there was maybe a little more action somewhere else. We went to the bridge and started live chumming for Snook with the pilchards I had netted earlier. The 5 lb. Jack Crevalles were stacked up and boiling up pretty good in the chum line Tom had steady action until he had enough and called it a night. On the way to the marina I got a call letting me know the Tarpon bite was on!

If your staying on Miami Beach the Tarpon are here and will be here for the next 5 months, there are plenty of species mixed in
with them (usually). I offer full or 1/2 days and evening trips.

If interested give me a call at 305 333 8149,
Captain Jimbo
