Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

3-16 15

I am Flamingo with Bob and Charlie today, the day started slow because the engine kept running out of gas. We started out in back country and made our way out front to be safe and stay close. It worked out pretty good because we caught Snook, Trout, Jacks, Ladyfish early on. I decided try running a little bit because the engine had been running ok. It paid off we got in to some laid up Tarpon and we had a couple good shots at them, but they just turn away. We put out a couple baits and Charlie hooked 80 lbs.. of jumping Tarpon which gave him a exciting 30 seconds, then let go. We put on another bait and it got hit, but somehow came off. We caught a few more fish including Bobs 20lb. Loggerhead Turtle the he hooked while casting at a Tarpon. It was fun and we had a few laughs while releasing it.

I am at Flamingo with Chris and his Grand daughter Nicole here on Spring break from Seattle. We started off casting at some rolling Tarpon we had 3 blow ups but no hook ups. We moved on to bend the rods catching a bunch of Trout, Jacks and Ladyfish. We also caught a live well full of Pilchards and headed out to the coastal creeks. Nicole had a couple good Snook Bites and caught a nice one. We had a bunch of Tarpon rolling everywhere but they showed no interest. We ran out to the Gulf of Mexico and found a Pompano on a Range marker, then we ran the crab traps. It was fun there we lots of Triple Tails today. We found them on everywhere. The finally count was about 18 or so up to 7 lbs. We tried for a Goliath, Nicole is having a great day hooking 2 Goliaths both getting away. This was a none stop fish catching day and Nicole even let her grandfather catch a few. great day!

I'm fishing Flamingo with Floyd his dad Dick and friend Gonzalo. We caught some bait and the moved on looking for some Tarpon. We found them and have numerous shots but Tarpon fishing can be frustrating. In the mean time we caught Trout, Ladyfish and Jacks. Floyd had a nice boil on his lure but that was as close as we got to a Tarpon. They wanted to keep the rods bent more than Tarpon so we did . We ran the crab traps again today but never saw a Triple tail. It was pushing 90 degrees at 1130 a.m. so we hit 1more spot an headed
