Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I am with Sam Rose today he is a regular customer, he brought Mike, Max and Steve and we are fishing South Biscayne Bay. We are having to deal with 20-25 mph Easterly winds and there is really no where to hide. I decided to fish the finger channels around Stiltsville for Mutton Snappers and Groupers. Max and Steve have never fished before so the idea is to bend rods. I rigged jigs and shrimp and they went to work, they caught Mutton Snapper, Grouper, Yellowtails, Lane Snapper, Blue Runners, Jacks and Cudas.

I am fishing Whitewater Bay with George, Ella, David and Freddie. George is the only one with any angling experience and it was about relaxing and teaching David and his wife Freddie a little about fishing. The first stop produced a couple small Snook for the women which they were thrilled with. On our second spot it didn't take very long either George got a Redfish which came off at the boat and then Ella landed her first Redfish. On our third spot they were casting at a point while I kept my eyes open for Tarpon. I was fishing popping corks and Shrimp in the Back country, it is fun for the new anglers to see the cork go down and not come up. they caught a couple Ladyfish and then we went after the Tarpon. The Tarpon were free jumping pretty good and it really got their blood pumping, after about 30 minutes of casting at them I could see they were getting a little frustrated because the tarpon did not want to play. I suggested to try something else and come back and try again later they agreed. We bounced around catching a couple more Snook and plenty of fun fish. I took them to a hole where I have some big Snappers and some even bigger Goliath Groupers. I rigged a knocker rig and handed it to Ella by the time it hit the bottom she was screaming and so was her drag. It was a great battle of give and take but she landed the 10 lb Goliath which she said was her biggest fish ever.
George hooked up next, he had to get broke off 6 or 7 time before he landed his first Goliath which was a 25 lb fish. We did this for an hour and a half catching or hooking fish on every cast If it wasn't a Goliath it was a big Snapper. The wind was blowing pretty good by now and they asked about the Tarpon so we went back and gave it a shot but had no luck at all. A ladyfish we were dragging behind the boat got hit by a Shark but let go. it was time to go and they were worn out as well.

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

There fish around but the wind dont help us get to them. The days we di its been good.
The Tarpon are in Government Cut and down at Flamingo the big females are in the b-c.
