Everglades Backcountry Fishing Report

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

It has definitely been an interesting winter down in the Everglades. Fronts are blowing through every few days and the rain has fallen at a record pace. The fishing in the backcountry has remained pretty good on most days. The snook have been hanging around structure in the backcountry and we are fishing mostly Lee shorelines. The trout fishing has been excellent, which this time of year it usually is. The redfish bite has also been excellent. They are up in the interior and pretty aggressive. When spin fishing, we have been throwing Rapala plugs or bucktails with a Gulp tip. On the fly side, Clouser minnows have been the ticket. This time of year, with the water temps on the cooler side, you have to get that fly down in the water column.

I have a few days open in March and still a few days in April. Those are primetime "early season" tarpon months and are your best opportunities for getting in on some of the best tarpon fishing of the season.
Give me a call to get out on the water.
All the best,
Capt. Jason Sullivan
