Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I hope everyone is off to a good start to the year. We are definitely in our winter fishing pattern with fronts rolling through every few days now. That's the beauty of fishing the Everglades because there is always a place to hide. The snook fishing in the backcountry has been steady with some redfish mixed in. When fishing back in some of those remote places, you really have to hit as many spots as you can because these fish move around a bunch. With the north wind that we get with the fronts, this really helps out the sight fishing because it pushes a lot of water out and turns it crystal clear.

When the weather allows us to get there, the redfishing has been pretty good closer to the Gulf. While redfishing, we have run into some great trout fishing. Catching them on plugs is one of my favorite ways to target them.
With this cold weather we have had, the night scene around Miami for tarpon will start to turn on. The shrimp are moving out on the outgoing tide and the tarpon are there waiting. This is a great trip after work.

I still have some dates open for our early Everglades Tarpon season. This is some of the best tarpon fishing that we have all year!

Give me a call or email to get out on the water.
All the best,
Capt. Jason Sullivan
