Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year and hopefully got to spend some time on the water. The last few weeks I have spent most of my time fishing out of Flamingo but have also squeezed in a few night trips chasing Tarpon in Miami. We have fished the flats outfront of Flamingo and have had some great sight fishing. We are getting shots pretty much all day long at schooling and tailing redfish in very shallow water. These fish will usually eat a well placed offering and sometimes they will go out of there way to eat your bait. Also on the flats, we have run into some big laid up snook, which is a lot of fun on light tackle or fly.
Craig and Lou from Pompano Beach, Fl joined me for a day on the water and we had a great day sight shooting redfish.

Kevin from Davie, Fl also wanted to chase redfish up in the shallows and although that day they were a little skittish, we still got into plenty of action.

So far we have had a pretty mild winter with warm water temperatures. When this happens it will bring Tarpon into the backcountry and we have hooked into a few while trout fishing. Here is a picture of one of those fish that ate a gulp on a jig while trout fishing.

The night fishing in and around Miami still continues to be pretty consistent. We have hooked, jumped, and landed tarpon on most trips. Mike and Lenny from Boston are down for the BCS National Championship game and got into some Tarpon action.

Give me a call for your next adventure!
