Fast Spring Fishing, Choices

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
April 12, 2009
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring fishing has been keeping anglers on the water, whether inshore or out on the blue seas.  I had the good fortune to help out Costa Del Mar at the Miami Billfish Tournament and I witnessed the weigh in and got reports regarding the amount of sailfish.  Second day there were over 200 sails released.  Dolphin, cobia, kingfish were weighed in too.
Inshore seen has been pretty hot with more and more permit rolling into the waters of Biscayne Bay.  Anthony Delioni caught a nice-sized pompano.  Not a permit but a great catch on light tackle.  Bear Cut bridge has had a good number of tarpon rolling.  Bonefish census took place in early April and am awaiting the tally.  Some days we have had very peculiar winds.  Rough.  Got to pick the right days for sight fishing in the bay.

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

Flamingo seems to always have a solid number of fish no matter how crappy the weather. Inside waters and creeks always have a decent bite even on the worst days. And the very deep backcountry has had good action with tarpon, snook, and bass. It's just that time of the year.

Everglades canals are hot right now too. Just about one of the better times for variety of fishing. I think the fishing will be getting better but hotter too. Better fishing is just around the corner so long you can hack the heat.
