Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Good bonefishing. Trout and redfish and flamingo getting hot. Excellent snapper and shark bite too. Tarpon is on the rise.
Flamingo Fishing Forecast:
We are in the middle of some of the best fishing of the year. Flamingo is seeing good numbers of big trout in the potholes and channels and redfish are starting to school up on the flats. Tarpon have already made a showing and it's only going to get better. With great weather now and ahead of us spring and summer fishing will be incredible. This is the time to pole up on the crown of the flats and look for tailers and wakes. I would throw any weedless type of bait and work them slowly through the surface. Remember the new "non-combustion" zones. I think this is going to make Snake Bight fishing better over time.
Biscayne Bay will see the biggest schools of bonefish feeding on the flats. There will be sharks and barracuda as well so be prepared for them. Live shrimp, Gulp, and live crabs will be the best baits to use. Try chumming with pieces of shrimp as you wait for the tide to bring the bonefish in to a stake out spot. They will be hungry.
The highlight will be the tarpon fishing. Arrive very early to wait for the sun to rise. This is usually the best time. Don't forget the flyrod. It is something in the fly that triggers the bite however; deeper water warrants a different style. Live baiting is always popular with crabs ranking high during the spring and early summer months.
