Flamingo, Everglades City or Lake Okeechobee

Capt. Armando Alejo

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings!

The recent cold fronts have cooled our fishery waters but the bite has remained strong! We are finding water temps in the high 60's and low 70's which has triggered the bigger drum bite.. However, the Snook bite has held as well! (But often found in deeper water). On a recent trip, Manny and Michelle found some reputable Snook and Redfish (pics attached). The Snook are taking light colored flies and MiroDine plugs (white), while the bigger drum (over slot picture shown), took a live shrimp on a cajun thunder rig. The cajun was rigged with a 1/4 ounce jig and 40 lb floru leader. I've been alternating trips between Flamingo, Everglades City and even North Lake Okeechobee, just for a change of pace. Check out the 3.5 lb "slab" Crappie pic attached, I'm offering guided trips to the Lake. Check us out if that's a trip you'd like to experience while the season is here...
