Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Between night trips and Flamingo trips, it has been a busy few weeks. The good news is, the fishing seems to get better everyday now. Over the last week or so, we have had an arrival of small pilchards and migratory tarpon in the Everglades. The tarpon fishing has been great so far!

When we can break away from tarpon fishing, the snook have been plentiful with those small minnows everywhere. If you find those small baits, there is a snook very close by. Perfect for the fly angler because you can imitate the bait almost perfect. When the wind isn't cranking, the flats have had a lot of life on them. A Lot of great shots on some laid up snook and redfish. This time of year the flats are always a great choice when conditions allow.

I also wanted to throw something else in this report that I don't talk about much. This only happens when it has been a dry year and it has been a dry year, just look at my lawn! The bass fishing has been great in the Everglades. The water levels are dropping in the Everglades, so all the bass are in the main canals out of Holiday Park and Alligator Alley. You can easily catch 50-100 bass in a four trip. If I am fishing during the day, we could do a 4 hour evening trip. Great on fly and light tackle. A good mid-week relaxing trip!
Give me a call to get out on the water.
