Flamingo Fishing Report

Capt. Jason Sullivan
December 15, 2017
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

We have finally got our first real cold blast of weather (by South Florida standards) this week with temperatures dropping into the mid 40s and water temperatures dropping into the low 60s. There were some big tarpon in the back country before the weather moved in and this will definitely push them out until water temps rise up to the mid 70s again. When that happens, it is some of the best tarpon fishing of the year!

The baby tarpon are a little more tolerant to stick around during the cooler weather, so that is another option until the big guys come into the backcountry.

The snook fishing continues to be excellent and we have been hammering them each trip on plugs and flies. This cooler weather also gives us bluebird skies and great sightfishing opportunities. With the mid day sun warming up the mudflats, this makes it ideal for snook and redfish to get on these flats and look for food.

Tarpon season is around the corner and I am already filling up dates in March, April, and May. If you have some dates in mind, let me know before it fills up.

The weather and fishing has been great so give me a call or email to get out in the Everglades!

All the best,
