Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
The difference between an average angler and a consistently successful one is determined by many small or subtle adjustments that make large positive impacts. Those looking for THE spot with limitless hungry fish or some magic "catch anything that swims" lure, will only find disappointment. A substantial investment of time exploring, listening and trying new things is the best way to take the next step. Personally, I spent many years exploring new areas and new techniques, often catching very few fish. I kept a log book, which helped me put together patterns of fish travel and narrow down lure selection. Without that foundation today, I would be lost on the rough days, like when the weather does not cooperate or when the bite is tough. For these reasons, I still explore new areas and experiment with new tackle regularly... I'm usually rewarded tenfold.
Snook Overload
With Snook on the brain, Jorge and TP came aboard with the hope of narrowing down some targeting techniques. With very little tidal flow in the morning, they witnessed the importance of timing first hand. We spent most of the morning covering terminal tackle basics and catching bait... and Jorge managed a nice Gag Grouper for a photo opp.
We made our way through Whitewater to the Gulf Coast. I'm sure at some point that morning they began to wonder if they were ever going to catch a Snook. Then, the tide flipped and the fish positioned themselves for lunch. We took advantage of ambush points and areas of relief from fast moving water... they all held fish. Jorge and TP caught Snook after Snook with new terminal set-ups and new techniques. Mission accomplished.
