Foggy conditions produce good bite!

Capt. Jim Hobales

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I am fishing Flamingo today with Dr. Eno and his friend Dr. Jeff . Our day didn't start until 9:30 and it worked out pretty good because of the fog. On our first spot I was hoping for some good Snook/Redfish action but they weren't there. Instead there was a school of fish swimming around, it was a mixture of Mangrove Snappers, Jacks and Mullet. We caught a few of each and then I said lets got before the tide starts to get to low. We made It to our second spot and thing picked up. First up Dr. Eno had a good bite and catches a Redfish, he did this back to back before Jeff got in on the action. The tide was really getting low and we didn't have much more time when Eno hooked a really nice Snook. 5 Reds and a Snook later we had to get out or be stuck all day. We were heading to the Gulf of Mexico to look for Tripletails @ 1130 when a fog bank set in. We ran out to Middle Grounds and got onto a great bite of Trout, Mackerel, jacks and Snappers. Once the fog bank cleared we ran out looking for Tripletails we found 3 big ones but they all spooked off. we bounced around the rest of the day and with a S.W. wind picking up to 20 mph it got tough!
