Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

052315
I am fishing the Bob Lewis Tournament with Don and his son Nick and Dereck and his son Will out of Flamingo, they entered the inshore Kid's division. I told them get there early and we can catch bait before lines in at 8 A.M. We caught bait and got into an area which was loaded with Mullet. I rigged up a couple rods for the kids and had them cast the bait out. I noticed they could both cast good and new we were in good shape. It didn't take long and we were hooked up with a double of Lemon Sharks which counted! We had a constant bite for 3 hours and went thru @ 50 baits. Mostly Sharks but Will had a 33 inch Redfish and Nick a 28 1/2 and a 17 incher. We were on the board, they both had Snook hooked up but they both shook free. The double and triple ups were constant and after catching several 70 lb. Sharks we were out of bait. We moved on to catch some Trout, Snappers Jacks and Ladyfish all counted in the Tournament. We caught bait and headed to another area looking for something big in the mullet muds and we found them. We had a few more over slot Reds up to 30 inches and They had to get going to make it back to weigh-in at Coconut Grove. Don and Dereck did allot of watching there kids today and we very unselfish. Theses kids were interested in learning and did a great job fight fish that weighed more than they did. Great job and the both took 2 place in their respective divisions with the big Redfish!
I am with my son James and friend Bruce we started out and got into a giant mud that was full of Snook. Bruce caught a good one and hooked a monster, then we got bombarded by Porpoise. They ate allot of the fish in that school so we moved on. The winds were gusting to 25 mph and we ran out west and fished the creeks on the coast. The day wasn't spectacular but a few big fish we hooked managed to get us into and under the trees, I learned a few things and James caught a nice Redfish. We decided to call it a day, it was blowing 30 mph and we already caught a few.
