Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fish 'Em Up As It Warms Up

As the temperatures have begun rising we have seen an increase in fish being caught overall. Everglades National Park waters have been producing quite a mixed bag recently. I would have to say that just about every species imaginable have been caught within the last several outings. Running the deep backcountry has been great those days the weather allows for a complete “circle,” as some of us know it. We’ll start at the Florida bay side and come in by Whitewater or vice versa. Cool weather makes fishing possible all day.

I also had the opportunity to fish from Key largo to Flamingo and back. That trip produced a nice snook along with loads of snapper, and some four and five pound jacks. I also was able to complete some professional photos for my upcoming full-featured story “Elementary Boat Building” in Florida Sportsman’s companion, Shallow Water Angler magazine. Make sure to stop at a tackle shop to read it, I would appreciate any feedback or comments from readers. I will gladly answer any questions as well.

Finally, This will be a busy weekend for me with two-half day charters and the Miami Boat show. If you are there, ask for me at the Hell’s Bay, Outdoor, Florida, or Saltwater Directions (Hot Spot Maps) booths. I will be floating around both working and playing. Hey, we need to enjoy what we like.
