Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

No Place like Home, Flamingo

Steady Snook and Tarpon Action

There truly is no place like home! After visiting a remote island in the Bahamas and both coasts of Florida I can say that fishing ENP has got to be my favorite spot! Let’s start here with explosive snook and tarpon action - everywhere, from the flats to the coasts. The snook are hitting plastics and jigs with gusto. Tarpon aren’t far behind. The trout are biting mostly early in the morning near Sandy Key Basin.

Don Humphrey’s and partner JW joined me for a good day of snapper, jacks, and a half-a-snook. This was unfortunate because only the head remained following the shark attack. Keep your hands out of the water. Use a net. Tarpon where all around us and even a “Trip” came within the edge of the boat. And of course, we can’t forget the green Iguana that brought much luck upon us.

Karen and son Andrew Batson smoked up a flamingo grand in no time at all. Andrew took the snook on a plastic tail and the tarpon after three break-offs. Mom scored the redfish, trout, and a whopper 15” snapper. Schools of jacks in the 12-15 pound class came in for a fight. The boy landed two before the school moved on.

It gets even better with Joe Digraziano’s trip. Joe made a triple Flamingo grand slam possible on lures. Well, almost because he was short two reds but not bad for 4 hrs. fishing. DOA shrimp did the trick on all three snook, one tarpon, trout. I seriously lost count after the first 15 tarpon strikes. This was an unbelievably good morning.

Get out early and beat the sun and rain. Don’t for get that summer charter rates are in! Give your captain call for the trip of a lifetime.
