Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Keep the Winds of March at Your Back

The winds cannot keep me home and can only create new areas to fish. Fishing in inside waters has yielded some great catches including a 32” snook and 12 pound jack for Zac Parnell and partner. In fact we are averaging three snook a day in Whitewater bay and limiting out on trout almost every trip. Dan Silkworth is another angler who took 2 snook on fly, two trout, and more also in Whitewater. Tarpon action has not been as steady as the snook and trout but is expected to improve with hotter and calmer weather.

The Florida Bay side has also been loaded with trout, some snook and reds. A hot tip is to move until some clean water is found and if it has been windy for several days that may mean fishing as far as 10-15 miles away from where you normally fish. I experienced this with Patrick Montag and friend Steven Ingraham. Both scored around 5 trout apiece, one snook, and a scattered mackerel.

Largemouth bass are prespawn right now and the fishing is guaranteed. Ray and his son caught 70 bass in about 5hrs. on top water and plastics. Dr. Mike Fleming and friend also landed at least twenty even in the middle of a front.

Biscayne Bay tarpon are in as Mike Bartolacci witnessed some serious strikes at night with me under the lights of south Beach. We also found some surprise catch of two large squids and a seatrout.

If you are interested in fishing or just getting out right now is a great time. Please give me a call as some of the good tidal days are filling fast.
