Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

t felt great to be back in the Everglades after the 16 day closure! I fished 3 days since they reopened last Thursday. We put some miles on the Maverick, fishing from the Harney River all the way to the Crocodile Dragover. There is a ton of bait on the coast with snook and tarpon all over the place! We had one morning that had us leaving the dock at 5am. We made a long run to a creek mouth that had multiple tarpon coming out of the water chasing small pilchards. We sat there and just watched for a few minutes before we started fishing. Pretty cool to see! Didn't land any of those tarpon, but did jump 5 on fly. The snook and redfish are also thick along the coast fattening up on all the bait that is pushing through.

The flats this week were full of life just as I suspected they would be from the closure. What other place can you sight fish tarpon, redfish, snook, blackdrum, and tripletail all in one day! Gotta love the Glades!

I plan on doing some trips over in Chokoloskee this winter. The wintertime sight fishing over there is as good as it gets. If that is something that interest you, let's make some plans and pick the right tides for this.

Give me a call to experience some world class fishing...
