Shallow Water Chillin Out

Capt. Steven Tejera
October 21, 2009
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

For the last couple of weeks it has been extremely hot and with high water just about everywhere from florida bay to biscayne bay. The bonefishing in the keys and biscayne bay was good during the lower stages of the tide for sightfishing. On the higher stages of the tide chumming was the key to getting the silver bullets on fire.
This past weekend we had a cold front push through south florida bringing down the temperature a bit. We came across plenty of bonefish tailing and mudding right before the front. The snook and redfish have been on the feed ,with the hot bait being a jig tipped with a Gulp Shrimp or Bass Assassin paddle tail. The creeks and runoffs with moving water has been the key to capitalizing on the snook and redfish.
With cooling temps making for an enjoyable day on the water and fish eating like there is no tomorrow its time to get out there and enjoy some of this bliss.

Here is a quick video of the 120lb Tarpon on fly fishing with my friends Capt. Benny Blanco(www.fishingflamingo.com) and Sam Root (Video taken and edited by Sam www.saltyshores.com).
