Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings A2Charters clients,

Change of scenery today- fished Everglades City... got out early (to beat the heat). Ran out of Sand fly pass, found moving water with nearby structure and strategically placed flies near blowdowns with an 8-weight fly rod... We worked several blowdowns until we found one that held fish. It wasn't long before we hooked two Snook but landed only one, one close to slot while the other simply put on a show. It ran, jumped, then ran again and frayed 40 lb. leader which gave to its freedom (rubbing against mangrove roots, covered in barnacles, didn't help). After a good start, we chose to look for Tarpon then Redfish for what remained of the day. The Tarpon didn't show and the Redfish bite was slow. I checked with boats at Glades Haven marina and only one Redfish was seen today- lost by a recreational angler.

Target Species:

Snook and Tarpon

About A-Squared Charters: If you are looking for a world class fishing trip, you’ve come to right place. I have been fortunate to fish the Glades over the past 20+ years, and I can’t think of a better place to seek out such a variety of salt and freshwater fish. Everglades National Park has plentiful opportunities for both the seasoned angler and those seeking their first experience with world class bay or backcountry fishing.
